We require a 20% deposit to be taken at the time of booking; trips may be canceled or shortened in the event of bad weather or at the crew’s discretion. Should this happen, Captain John can consult with you to reschedule or issue a full or partial refund.

We are a 17.4 mile (approx. 22 minutes) drive from Cudjoe Key, southbound on US-1.

It depends on what you’re after, since many sports fish are seasonal, but Captain John recommends May/June or December/January as the best times to hit the water (please remember that December/January weather in the Keys can be unpredictable).

Anglers around Cudjoe Key frequently catch species such as Sailfish, Grouper, Snapper, and Tarpon.

Cudjoe Key fishermen mostly employ trolling, fly fishing, and light tackle fishing techniques.

Deep-sea fishing, flats fishing, and reef fishing are all good options on Cudjoe Key.

Yes, Key West International Airport is just 28 minutes from Cudjoe Key.

Yes, Cudjoe Key is a three-hour drive from Miami going southbound on US-1.

In the event of bad weather, our captain will work with you to reschedule your fishing trip or issue you a full refund. We value safety above all else at Fish Daily Charters.

Guests fishing aboard a licensed charter do not need a separate fishing license; we cover everything.

You should bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, non-slip shoes, and light layers for any changing weather conditions. Feel free to bring a camera and any snacks or drinks you might want on your adventure.

The Heavy Hitter can accommodate six persons total, including crew.

We specialize in reef and wreck fishing – targeting bottom-dwelling species such as permit, grouper, shark, and barracuda, to name a few – but we are outfitted for both deepwater and inshore charters.

Yes, parking is available at our marina free of charge.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome on our boat. Bring a leash or harness in case the dog needs to be restrained for their own safety.

Captain John stresses that refunds due to seasickness are not possible. Our crew will guide the boat back to calmer waters or take you back to shore.

If you want to bring your own gear, you are welcome to, but we provide any and all gear and equipment you might need.

There are no guarantees with Mother Nature, especially if you’re targeting a specific species, but generally speaking, we can always find something big to haul out of the abundant waters of the Florida Keys, no matter the time of year.

No (but please let us know if you can’t before we embark). No one has ever fallen overboard during our years of operation, and we provide life jackets and safety equipment for all our guests.

Yes, we are located on Stock Island on the western edge of the Florida Keys.

Sorry, but you are not allowed to sell fish you catch for any purpose; it’s illegal.

We can embark anytime between the hours of 6am to 4pm, depending on what works for you. Our Sunset Cruises get underway shortly before sunset.

Our deck is painted with non-skid material, so sandals are fine. But we ask that you don’t wear black-soled shoes to avoid damaging the boat.

We currently use Vance’s spinning tackle, and an assortment of Shimano, Penn, and Accurate bottom tackles, but we’re always trying new products to find the best possible gear for our trips.

Although we do not allow glass bottles onboard, alcohol is permitted for everyone of legal drinking age.

It is very important while in the tropics to stay hydrated. We provide water.

We usually only have a small random assortment of snacks on board. You are welcome to bring any food and drinks you might want on your journey.

When the large fish move farther offshore in winter, a typical trip might be twenty miles. When the fish come closer to shore in summer, we’d only need to go five miles out. Specialty trips, such as to the Dry Tortugas,can take us as far as seventy miles out.

We don’t like surprising guests with hidden fees during or after their trip. Our fuel surcharges are included up front in the total for your specialty charters.

Going to and from the fishing grounds we usually go at about 35 to 38 miles per hour.

There are two seats for guests in the bow of the boat, and we can bring bean bags for any additional persons.

Yes. Feel free to store your snacks and drinks there.

Do not bring any illegal drugs or glass containers. We also ask that you not wear black-soled shoes, or if they are black-soled, that they be non-marking.

If the conditions are good, you can absolutely ask our crew to stop somewhere to jump in for a swim.
