What is your payment policy?
A 20% deposit is taken at the time of booking (cash or credit cards only). The balance of your payment will be charged at the end of your adventure.
What does the price of one of your charters include?
A 20% deposit up front is included with every charter. A 15-20% tip is customary for our hard-working crew at the conclusion of your trip.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask that you notify us of any cancellations at least 2 weeks before arrival.
Should I tip my crew after my journey?
A tip is customary and greatly appreciated, usually 15-20%. Our crew works hard to provide you with a top Florida Keys experience.
Are fishing gear and bait included in the charter?
Yes! We provide all the gear, bait, and tackle you will need.
Is a fishing license required for charter guests in Key West?
Not to worry, you do not need a fishing license; we take care of everything.
What should I bring on my fishing trip?
You should bring: sunglasses, sunscreen, non-slip shoes, a hat, and light layers for any changing weather conditions. Feel free to bring a camera and any drinks or snacks you might want to enjoy.
How many people can your boat accommodate?
We can accommodate six persons total on our boat, including crew.
Is it okay if this is my first time fishing?
No worries! Our crew is there to guide you every step of the way.
What kind of fishing does your crew specialize in?
Reef and wreck fishing – going after species such as permit, amberjack, shark, and grouper, to name a few – is our specialty, but we are outfitted for deepwater, inshore and river flats charters.
What kind of payments do you accept?
A 20% deposit is taken at the time of your booking. Cash or credit card only, please.
Is there parking at your marina?
Yes, parking is free of charge at our marina.
Can I bring my service dog with me?
We welcome well-behaved dogs on our boat. A leash or harness is recommended in case your pup needs to be restrained for their own safety.
Is your boat handicap accessible?
Please speak to our crew and we can see about modifying our boat to suit your needs for your charters.
Are there restrooms aboard the boat?
There are no restrooms aboard the boat. Plan accordingly.
What happens if I get seasick?
Our crew will guide the boat back to calmer waters or take you back to shore. Captain John reminds you that refunds due to seasickness are not possible.
Should I bring my own fishing gear?
You are welcome to bring your own gear if you like, but remember that we provide any and all gear and equipment you might need, so it’s not necessary.
Am I guaranteed to catch something?
Generally speaking, we can always find something big to reel in out of the abundant waters of the Keys, no matter the time of year. But Captain John reminds you that there are no guarantees with Mother Nature!
Do I need to know how to swim?
It’s not required (but please let us know if you can’t before we embark). No one has ever fallen overboard during our years of operation, and we provide life jackets and safety equipment for all our guests.
Are you located on an island?
Yes, we are located on Stock Island on the western edge of the Florida Keys.
Can you sell any fish that I don’t want to keep?
Sorry, but you are not allowed to sell fish you catch for any purpose; it’s illegal.
What times do we leave?
We can embark anytime between the hours of 6am to 4pm, depending on what works for you. Our Sunset Cruises, of course, get underway shortly before sunset.
Are sandals allowed onboard?
Our deck is painted with non-skid material, so sandals are fine. But please don’t wear black-soled shoes to avoid damaging the boat.
What kind of tackle do you use?
We currently use Vance’s spinning tackle, and an assortment of Shimano, Penn, and Accurate bottom tackles, but we’re always trying new products to find the best possible gear for our trips.
Is alcohol allowed on the boat?
Although we do not allow glass bottles onboard, alcohol is permitted for everyone of legal drinking age.
Do you provide water on your trip?
Yes, it is very important while in the tropics to stay hydrated, so we provide water.
Are snacks provided?
Yes, but usually only a small random assortment of snacks are on board. You are welcome to bring any food and drinks you might want on your journey.
How far out to sea do we travel on a trip?
When large fish move offshore in winter, a typical trip might be twenty miles. When the fish come closer to shore in summer, we only need to go five miles out. Specialty trips, such as to the Dry Tortugas, can take us as far as seventy miles out (fuel surcharges apply.)
Are gas prices included on your specialty trips?
We don’t like surprising guests with hidden fees during or after their trip. Our fuel surcharges are included up front in the total for your specialty charters.
How fast does your boat go?
Going to and from fishing grounds, we usually cruise at about 35 to 38 miles per hour.
Are children allowed on your fishing trips?
Of course! All ages are welcome.
How many seats are on your boat?
There are two seats for guests in the bow of the boat, and we can bring bean bags for any additional persons.
Is there a cooler on board?
Yes. Feel free to store your snacks and drinks there.
What should I NOT bring?
Do not bring any illegal drugs or glass containers. We also ask that you not wear black-soled shoes, or if they are black-soled, that they be non-marking.
Can we go for a swim during our charter?
If the conditions are good, you can absolutely ask our crew to stop somewhere to jump in for a swim.
Do you have life jackets on board?
We provide life jackets for everyone on board.
How far in advance can I make a reservation?
As far out in advance as you like!
Can we stay out longer than our allotted time?
Yes, although additional charges may be incurred, and ultimately it is up to the discretion of our crew.
Do you offer clothing-optional charters?
We’re not opposed to the idea! Ask us directly at the time of your booking.
Are my credit card details secure?
Yes. We take your financial safety as well as your physical safety very seriously.
Do you offer overnight charters?
Our boat is just not equipped to accommodate guests overnight, so no overnight charters (sorry!)
