We are a 40 minute drive from Big Pine Key, southbound on US-1, approx. 26.3 miles.

Many sport fish are seasonal, so it depends on what you’re after, but Captain John recommends May/June and December/January as peak fishing times (a reminder that weather in the Keys during December/January is sometimes unpredictable.)

Anglers out of Big Pine Key can catch offshore species such as Sailfish, Mahi Mahi and Marlin, as well as inshore species like Tarpon, Barracuda and Spotted Seatrout.

Fishermen in Big Pine Key mostly use trolling, fly fishing, and light tackle fishing techniques.

Big Pine Key has environments suitable for deep-sea fishing, flats fishing, and reef fishing.

Yes, Key West International Airport is just over 40 minutes from Big Pine Key.

Yes, Big Pine Key is about a three-hour drive from Miami going south on US-1.

There are several great lodging options on Big Pine Key, including the fabulous Encore Sunshine Key, the Barnacle Bed & Breakfast, and the Old Wooden Bridge Resort & Marina. For campers, the Big Pine Key Resort and Bahia Honda State Park Campground are great options.

Big Pine Key is a little over 10 square miles, with a population of about 4,500.

There are some great restaurants on Big Pine Key, including the Big Pine Rooster (the #1-rated local restaurant on TripAdvisor!), the No Name Pub, and Coco’s Kitchen. Kiki’s Sandbar and Grill is also located a short drive from Big Pine Key on neighboring Little Torch Key.

The only freshwater lake in the Florida Keys sits on the northern end of Big Pine Key! Formerly a rock quarry that eventually filled with rainwater, the Blue Hole is a nature lover’s paradise, and is home to many species of mammals, birds and reptiles (no swimming allowed, though – the alligators in the Blue Hole reach legendary sizes!)

Yes, Big Pine Key is home to the largest remaining population of the critically endangered Key Deer. The Florida Keys Nature & History Tour offers family-friendly guided walks to observe these graceful and mysterious animals in their natural habitat.

Big Pine Key has lots of activities besides fishing and swimming! The island is home to the Big Pine Key Flea Market, as well as private boat tours of famous bridges in the area. Nature lovers will love the Blue Hole Observation Platform and the Florida Keys National Wildlife Refuge. And multiple snorkeling, paddleboarding, and kayaking rentals can all be found on Big Pine Key.

Yes, there is a charging station for EVs located at the Winn-Dixie supermarket on Big Pine Key. There is an additional charging station on nearby Little Torch Key.

Absolutely! All fish you catch will be professionally cleaned, fileted, and bagged free of charge by our crew.

Our mailing address is 5095 Peninsular Ave, Stock Island, Key West FL 33040. We are based out of the Oceans Edge Resort & Marina, about 34 minutes from Big Pine Key.

We take safety very seriously at Fish Daily Charters. In the event of bad weather, our captain will work with you to reschedule or issue you a refund.

A 20% deposit is taken at the time of booking (cash or credit cards only). The balance of your payment will be charged at the end of your adventure.

A 20% deposit up front is included with every charter. A 15-20% tip is customary for our hard-working crew at the conclusion of your trip.

We ask that you notify us of any cancellations at least 2 weeks before arrival.

A tip is customary and greatly appreciated, usually 15-20%. Our crew works hard to provide you with a top Florida Keys experience.

Yes! We provide all the gear, bait, and tackle you will need.

Not to worry, you do not need a fishing license; we take care of everything.

You should bring: sunglasses, sunscreen, non-slip shoes, a hat, and light layers for any changing weather conditions. Feel free to bring a camera and any drinks or snacks you might want to enjoy.

We can accommodate six persons total on our boat, including crew.

No worries! Our crew is there to guide you every step of the way.

Reef and wreck fishing – going after species such as permit, amberjack, shark, and grouper, to name a few – is our specialty, but we are outfitted for deepwater, inshore and river flats charters.

A 20% deposit is taken at the time of your booking. Cash or credit card only, please.

Yes, parking is free of charge at our marina.

We welcome well-behaved dogs on our boat. A leash or harness is recommended in case your pup needs to be restrained for their own safety. 

Please speak to our crew and we can see about modifying our boat to suit your needs for your charters.

There are no restrooms aboard the boat. Plan accordingly.

Our crew will guide the boat back to calmer waters or take you back to shore. Captain John reminds you that refunds due to seasickness are not possible. 

You are welcome to bring your own gear if you like, but remember that we provide any and all gear and equipment you might need, so it’s not necessary.

Generally speaking, we can always find something big to reel in out of the abundant waters of the Keys, no matter the time of year. But Captain John reminds you that there are no guarantees with Mother Nature!

It’s not required (but please let us know if you can’t before we embark). No one has ever fallen overboard during our years of operation, and we provide life jackets and safety equipment for all our guests.

Yes, we are located on Stock Island on the western edge of the Florida Keys.

Sorry, but you are not allowed to sell fish you catch for any purpose; it’s illegal.

We can embark anytime between the hours of 6am to 4pm, depending on what works for you. Our Sunset Cruises, of course, get underway shortly before sunset.

Our deck is painted with non-skid material, so sandals are fine. But please don’t wear black-soled shoes to avoid damaging the boat. 

We currently use Vance’s spinning tackle, and an assortment of Shimano, Penn, and Accurate bottom tackles, but we’re always trying new products to find the best possible gear for our trips. 

Although we do not allow glass bottles onboard, alcohol is permitted for everyone of legal drinking age.

Yes, it is very important while in the tropics to stay hydrated, so we provide water.

Yes, but usually only a small random assortment of snacks are on board. You are welcome to bring any food and drinks you might want on your journey.

When large fish move offshore in winter, a typical trip might be twenty miles. When the fish come closer to shore in summer, we only need to go five miles out. Specialty trips, such as to the Dry Tortugas, can take us as far as seventy miles out (fuel surcharges apply.)

We don’t like surprising guests with hidden fees during or after their trip. Our fuel surcharges are included up front in the total for your specialty charters.

Going to and from fishing grounds, we usually cruise at about 35 to 38 miles per hour.

Of course! All ages are welcome.

There are two seats for guests in the bow of the boat, and we can bring bean bags for any additional persons.

Yes. Feel free to store your snacks and drinks there.

Do not bring any illegal drugs or glass containers. We also ask that you not wear black-soled shoes, or if they are black-soled, that they be non-marking.

If the conditions are good, you can absolutely ask our crew to stop somewhere to jump in for a swim.

We provide life jackets for everyone on board.

Yes, although additional charges may be incurred, and ultimately it is up to the discretion of our crew.

Yes. We take your financial safety as well as your physical safety very seriously.

Our boat is just not equipped to accommodate guests overnight, so no overnight charters (sorry!)
