Based out of nearby Stock Island, Fish Daily Charters is only eight minutes down the road from Big Coppitt Key, and a convenient ten-minute drive from Key West International Airport. Our vessel, the Heavy Hitter, is capable of cruising not just the open ocean, but inshore and along the river flats as well, meaning you can go after a variety of fish species from small and tasty to big and fightin’! And our trusty skipper, Captain John, draws on his knowledge as a fifth-generation local to figure out where the fish are, and get you there…fast.

A 20% deposit is taken at booking; it is possible that trips may be canceled or cut short due to bad weather, or at the discretion of the crew. If this happens, Captain John will work with you to reschedule or issue a full or partial refund.

What To Bring

Fish Daily Fishing Charters provides all licenses, permits, bait and equipment necessary for our guests to enjoy a great fishing trip. Life jackets are provided by the crew. You are welcome to bring snacks and beverages on our boat. (NO GLASS BOTTLES PLEASE)

We are a 5.9 mile (approx. 8 minutes) drive from Big Coppitt Key, southbound on US-1.

Our skipper recommends May/June or December/January as the best times to come down and fish with us (remember that December/January weather in the Caribbean can be unpredictable).

There are no hotels on Big Coppitt Key. However, there are several highly-rated hotels on nearby islands a short drive away, such as the Key West Harbour Hotel, and the Oceans Edge Resort & Marina (where Fish Daily Charters is based!)

There are several terrific eating establishments on the island; Mom Don’t Go has fresh seafood, Karlita’s Cafe offers authentic Cuban cuisine, and Bobalu’s Southern Cafe has pizza for the little ones and prime rib for the grownups!

Due to its small size, Big Coppitt Key is mainly residential, but Paddlin’ Madeleine Paddleboat Tours & Rentals is based on the island. Neighboring islands a short drive away have other activities such as snorkeling, skydiving, and guided nature walks.

There aren’t any charging stations for electric vehicles on Big Coppitt Key, but several can be found on nearby Ramrod Key, a short 23-minute drive away. Stock Island, where Fish Daily Charters is located, also has several EV charging stations.

Our crew is happy to professionally clean, filet, and bag your catch, at no charge.

We are located at the Oceans Edge Resort & Marina, about 8 minutes from Big Coppitt Key. You can mail us at 5095 Peninsular Ave, Stock Island, Key West FL 33040.

Safety is our top priority when going out on the water. In the event of bad weather, our crew will make every effort to reschedule your charter or issue you a full refund.

A 20% deposit is taken when booking (cash or credit cards only). The remainder of your payment will be charged at the end of your charter.

Every charter includes a 20% upfront deposit. A tip of 20% is customary for our hard-working crew at the end of your charter.

Please notify us of any cancellations at least 2 weeks ahead of your arrival.

Fish Daily Charters provides all the gear, bait, and tackle, so you don’t have to!

Nope, we cover everything. Guests do not need a separate fishing license of their own.

We recommend sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, non-slip shoes, and a few light layers of clothing in case the weather goes south. Feel free to bring a camera for memories and any drinks or snacks you might want!

The Heavy Hitter can take on six persons total (including crew.)

Of course! Our crew is happy to teach newcomers a trick or two about fishing the Gulf.

We can cruise both open ocean and inshore river flats, but reef fishing is our specialty!

Parking is available at our marina, free of charge. EV stations are also nearby.

Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome. We recommend bringing a leash or harness in case your pup needs to be restrained for safety.

We can see about modifying our boat to suit any special needs for your charters. Just give us a call and we can see what we can do!

Nope, no bathrooms aboard the boat. So plan accordingly.

Our crew can bring the boat to calmer waters or return you to shore, but we have to remind you that we don’t issue refunds due to seasickness.

You can if you want, but we provide all the gear and tackle you might need as part of your purchased charter.

No guarantees in Mother Nature, especially if there’s a specific species you’re after, but the abundance of marine life around Big Coppitt Key means we can pretty much always find something epic to reel in.

Not at all (but we would like to know if you can’t.) In all our years of operation no one has ever fallen overboard on our charters.

Yes, we are based out of Stock Island on the western part of the Florida Keys.

Sorry, but you can’t sell fish we catch for market purposes; it’s illegal.

We can embark anytime you like, between the hours of 6am to 4pm. Our Sunset Cruises get underway shortly before sunset.

Sandals are allowed. But please try to avoid wearing black-soled shoes, which might damage the boat.

Right now we stock Vance’s for spinning tackle, as well as a mix of Shimano, Accurate, and Penn for bottom tackles.

We cannot allow glass bottles onboard, but alcoholic beverages are fine for anyone of legal drinking age.

The Gulf can get very hot and humid. We stock water for our guests to beat the heat.

We have a small random assortment of snacks on board, but you are welcome to bring whatever you might want to eat and drink along with you.

In winter, when the fish move far offshore, the trip out averages about twenty miles. When the fish move closer to shore in summer, average trips are only five miles out. Our specialty trips, such as the Shrimp Boat Charter, can take us up to seventy miles out.

You won’t find any hidden fees during or after your charter. Fuel surcharges, if any, are included with the total up front.

The Heavy Hitter cruises at 35 to 38 miles per hour to and from the fishing grounds.

We welcome all ages aboard our vessel!

Two seats for guests on the forward deck of the boat, and we bring bean bags for any additional persons.
