Why Choose Our Barracuda Fishing Charter?

Barracuda are a well-known and common sight in our waters, but nabbing them isn’t always easy. So let Fish Daily Charters take the guesswork out of angling for ‘cudas with our expert and friendly crew of salty dogs! Our skipper, Captain John, is a fifth-generation local of these waters, and he’s eager to share all the magic and the mystery of Florida Keys barracuda fishing with you.

Our charters are suitable for all ages, so don’t hesitate to bring your friends and family along for the ride! And our upfront pricing model and flexible scheduling options are great for planning trips, whether they’re years in advance or right at the last minute. Take a look at our pricing options and find a charter that works for you!

About The Barracuda

The barracuda is a snakelike, sharp-toothed predatory fish that can be found everywhere from river flats to offshore reefs, where it ambushes its prey with short bursts of speed. Although juveniles tend to congregate in schools, or “packs,” mature individuals will hunt alone, and can reach up to 14 years of age.

Although 28 species of barracuda exist worldwide, in our case “barracuda” refers to two closely-related species: the Southern sennett (which gets about 2lbs and 2ft long) and the great barracuda (larger, able to reach up to 5ft long and 50lbs!). Both can be reeled in from the waters of Key West, and both are great sport fish, giving you lots of fight on the line as they zip this way and that trying to get free.

How We Catch Barracuda

Barracuda can swim anywhere from inland riverways to reefs and wrecks miles from shore. We usually head out to one of these wrecks to go after larger, more mature fish. We employ light spinning tackle to cast for ‘cudas, and it might take a lot of casts before you get a hit, so your shoulders might get a workout! Good news is, these voracious predators snap up most anything smaller than themselves, so once your lure finds them, they usually chomp on it.

Once hooked, barracudas are feisty fighters, and can wear a novice fisherman out with its repeated runs on the line. When hauling them aboard, we are very careful of the mouth lined with razor-sharp teeth. Since barracudas aren’t good eating (they carry ciguatera, a toxin found in many reef fish), most often we employ a catch-and-release method with these fish. If you wish to keep your catch for a trophy, it must be between 15 or 36 inches long. One fish over 36 inches is allowed per boat.
